Speaker 1:

Welcome to another episode of the American Beer.

Speaker 2:

Review Podcast Good times for good friends requires good beer. Lucky for us, we know ethnic all three.

Speaker 3:

We're a group of friends who grew up in the Pacific Northwest, giving us a jump start on our craft beer journey.

Speaker 1:

Join us today. While, brian, I pride myself on not getting to know other people, so do not put that on me.

Speaker 3:

Alec, the bananas up until like the 60s weren't entirely different species of banana.

Speaker 2:

And Chad Hit me like a back in bar.

Speaker 1:

Review some beer, talk about beer topics, whatever else comes up. We invite you to pour yourself a drink and hang out with us.

Speaker 2:

Problem with white people. Everyone's interested in what the game is. The game is always when you just can't have a TV show, that's fight, fight, fight all the time you have to have.

Speaker 3:

Have you seen UFC? Yeah, that's not a TV show. No. If you watch Ultimate Fighter and you just fast forward to the last 10 minutes of the episode, I stopped watching the Ultimate Fighter. But if we let the nerds, I haven't seen it since college.

Speaker 2:

The problem is, if you let the nerds make the Halo show, they would just Nobody's gonna watch it. They'd just recreate the Video game. It'd just be like watching somebody on Twitter.

Speaker 3:

Which you can go do by just playing the video game. Yeah, sure.

Speaker 1:

I need to find some new video games.

Speaker 2:

Do you want to go spread democracy and help divers? Yeah, what's up with that? I heard a lot of people talking about it lately. Four player co-op it's like gauntlet legends. He blocks me.

Speaker 3:

I need to play offline by myself at a random time and turn it off whenever I need to go take care of the game it's 100%.

Speaker 2:

You remember Earth Defense Force, you can play solo you can drop in the same.

Speaker 3:

It looked like Starship.

Speaker 2:

Troopers-ish? Yes, but it's kind of like the Earth Defense Force style, when there's guns to unlock but it's not. You drop in and you're just. You could be a brand new guy or somebody who's played it for 40 hours. There's no power scaling. It's like you can just right away, you can get in and you can. I've matched up with people who are 20 levels higher, but we're the same character. There's no.

Speaker 3:

It comes down to scale.

Speaker 2:

But it's fun and the memes online everyone's all doing the Storm Troopers.

Speaker 1:

I know a lot of people really enjoyed it. It's just it's 40 bucks. I got to.

Speaker 2:

And it's kicking the shit out of all the other triple A titles.

Speaker 1:

I have to be able to, especially after the Ubisoft, like literally just play for an hour. Sign on, sign off 10 minutes.

Speaker 2:

Stop A mission.

Speaker 1:

Last 10 minutes and I just I also don't pay for the gold you don't have to.

Speaker 2:

You pay 40 bucks for the game and then you can earn the currency for that. But the CEO has been saying all the right things like we don't want to add cosmetic tie-ins with other companies, we just want to make a good game. I'm not going to hire extra people because Interesting.

Speaker 1:

You don't have to have gold or Xbox Live.

Speaker 2:

No, I do it over. You can do it on Steam. I use Steam on my computer. Yeah, people say that I don't understand it.

Speaker 3:

It's on Xbox. It's on Xbox Live, marketplace for computers.

Speaker 2:

Same thing, so I pay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I do the Xbox, so it's on the computer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I play on the computer, but you can play it at all. You can play on Xbox. We can play together cross-play. They're working. You're probably going to see the PlayStation Xbox divide because now Xbox players are like we need PlayStation players to join the play the bugs Bang. It's the robots. I like fighting the robots, even though it's hell, but when it gets, it can either be really easy or it can just become absolutely chaotic and you get blown up. And you're blown up 500 feet away. It's like old school Rektal.

Speaker 2:

There's just a whole lot of nostalgia in it, but anyways, we're not here to talk about video games. We're here to talk about Beer, ideally From narrow gauge brewing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I never heard of this one before.

Speaker 3:

Don't look at their websites? They don't have a ton of information there either. Did you think I was going to go to the web room.

Speaker 2:

I don't think you've checked in a narrow gauge. I found out by being on untapped. I can see what beers you have it checked in.

Speaker 3:

They're from. Somebody gets surgical with their divorce rates. They're getting Fluorescent misery. Yep, there's that. They got a couple of pictures on here. I think they opened with a tap room, but they do not have a tap room. They have a tasting room that they partner with another place, but not a ton of information there, not a ton of information on the beer. So you're probably going to read the exact same thing that I will.

Speaker 2:

This is their peer butter stopped.

Speaker 3:

Brewery slash.

Speaker 1:

Italian restaurant Yep.

Speaker 3:

Is where you get their tastings, yeah.

Speaker 1:

No, that's what it says for their narrow gauge brewing company Category.

Speaker 2:

Brewery Italian restaurant. They're like a step away from being a roast brewery Almost.

Speaker 1:

Let's open you and Google Maps and see what shows up.

Speaker 3:

That is a nice dark stout. It is an imperial stout brewed with lactose, peanuts, peanut flour and natural flavor, so it's got all the allergens here. Oh my God.

Speaker 2:

This is a smell we haven't had in a.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the one that says it's their brewery is a friggin Sherwin Williams paint store. Like what the heck.

Speaker 3:

C-U-G-I-N-O's restaurant Is where they have their beer at. Is where they have their beer from narrow gauge on top. Oh, okay, I see that. I see that we do not have a tasting room at the brewery yet.

Speaker 2:

Huh, but you can pick it up on Tavor.

Speaker 3:

Didn't they'll ship?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, curbside pickup for food and narrow gauge beer.

Speaker 3:

The pictures, I think inside yeah, I see Cujinos.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, huh, that's interesting.

Speaker 3:

So they browse in stores so they have what would be, or eventually will be, like a tasting room, but instead it's like a counter that instead of the bar is just the sales counter and they have coolers around so you can pick up their beer in cans and yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, that's that looks like the bar yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's real small.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Food looks good though, so huh, interesting Well you know oh. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, do you know?

Speaker 3:

I think there's some peanut butter in this 10.5%. Yeah no, that's just hitting on all the allergens Lactose and peanut butter, oh dear.

Speaker 2:

God Right. Yeah, I think the booziness is helping with that, because at a 10,.

Speaker 3:

you're getting a lot of oh that smells so nice.

Speaker 2:

You're getting a lot of that alcohol is kind of vaporizing but bringing all that peanut butter smell right in your nose.

Speaker 1:

This is all the sugar sweet adjuncts that we're not. In that one, a couple of times.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's why this is the last one for the day making this kill ourselves with sugar.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, this one might burn good too. It's burning good. No, he means Heat up, he means to stick the With a fire stick in it, did you?

Speaker 2:

guys get a taste already.

Speaker 1:

There's plenty more in the can.

Speaker 2:

You guys taste. I've tasted mine. I've got it in my head. I'll be back.

Speaker 3:

What's the name of this one? Again, I'll be back in a minute Arrow gauge. No, I know that it's their peanut butter and stout, oh, really. So it's not peanut butter and jelly, it's just peanut butter and stout, oh yeah, I see it now.

Speaker 1:

All right, natural flavors what's peanut?

Speaker 3:

flour. My guess is ground up peanuts.

Speaker 1:

That's not peanut butter, it's lactose, peanuts, peanut flour and natural flavors. I'm so like.

Speaker 3:

You haven't tried these yet.

Speaker 1:

I'm so intrigued and concerned.

Speaker 3:

Give him the first taste around when you get it done. Do I need a different glass?

Speaker 1:

He'll do it in that one and then just share it in it. I'm fine, all our contaminations.

Speaker 3:

No, it burned it off. The extra heat and that 10.5% alcohol. I don't think that's how that works. It's exactly how it works. Heat and alcohol kills all the germs.

Speaker 1:

The can's kind of fun. Just a giant peanut shell. I use mine. Where's yours? It's recording us. Oh yeah, Do you need mine? Is mine easier to?

Speaker 2:

hand to him. Take a quick video.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, here, check, they'll let us insert. Can you handle it Okay? Post-production Maybe. Actually, I have been impressed when watching the videos and the stuff that he actually says like, oh, post-production, and it actually shows up. Yeah, it's always funny because I've been watching a lot of if you watch the Dude Perfect videos. Yeah, I've been aware of them. Yes, turns out my four-year-old enjoys Dude Perfect.

Speaker 1:

I don't mind, it's entertaining, yeah, but there's a lot where they're like all right, and then subscribe here and check out our next video here and I'm just like, who did you just make? Spend a lot of time figuring out how to like.

Speaker 3:

While you're walking into the setup, you're like why is all that space behind my? Chads using all of this space here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know, and I literally watched the video and get it, but it's also just like hey man, the Dude takes care of it all, so can you complain about that? This reminds. So I haven't had it in a long time because you know I'm mad. I gave him the rest of it. Yeah right, it was my wife's favorite beer, but it she's now gluten-free. Is that a wrap on the can? It?

Speaker 3:

is a sticker.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it's a black can with a sticker. It makes me think of Belching Beaver. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, this is way boosier, because I feel like Belching Beaver is still only at like a 6%. Look it up. But. I tried to sell my phone Turns out, I got I know a guy, but the Belching Beaver peanut butter stout, I think, is still only. I hear noises coming from the garage.

Speaker 3:

There's a torch going right now.

Speaker 1:

Butter stout. Oh, I had it. Belching Beaver. Yep, I'll see you here. I lost service. Oh, 5.3%.

Speaker 3:

Oh, so half as much alcohol on this, yeah, and so that's kind of the difference.

Speaker 1:

But to me, when we talked about a four, there is a little flavor, a little something with the booze-ness. Okay, I'm trying.

Speaker 2:

I have made fire.

Speaker 3:

Hey, get on camera when you say that that's fine, Okay, so good Lord yeah it's a little hot, yeah, but not too bad, but like way down. Put that to the camera, the foam Okay so I will have a separate video posted while Thor was doing it.

Speaker 1:

There will be a little inset here, but like oh yeah, we are showing how that happens.

Speaker 2:

I'm losing it. Yeah, I was gonna say I'm losing that. Get some of that worm foam in here With the cool yeah, Right.

Speaker 1:

That's freaking weird. It's crazy. It's like a graham cracker-like Like a s'more.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Where you're mixing like the hot and the cold. This is freaking weird now or whatever Pazookie, pazoo-loo, pazoo-loo.

Speaker 1:

Like I don't want to drink a lot quick and fast, but also, at the same time, you don't want to, like lose the like you know take a hit. Yes, mary, please Do me. I think doing it in the smalls in the smalls is the right way to go, though.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yeah, all the breweries that do this. They do them in like five ounce schooners or eight ounce schooners. Yeah, hit me one more time. Yeah, I need a better stop guy.

Speaker 1:

Well, we were just talking about the Belcher brewer.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, Because it turns that like sweetness and the churros into like a caramel.

Speaker 2:

Like it. It's mainly that texture of the foam.

Speaker 1:

It is Because the thing you miss in a lot of stouts like this is what I want from Nitro beers.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I want this Nitro that's exactly what I thought it nitros the beer foam.

Speaker 1:

But it better than nitros because there's a thickness to the cream. You actually get it because, like getting into like a Guinness, I feel like I'm always chasing the bubbles the cream on top.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, and at some point in the pint of Guinness you're like it just goes away and like you just can't get it because it's it's so thin it like floats away as you like tilt the glass like that's freaking something. Man, I don't know I might be like are there other beers we can do this to? Do you have to only be dark beers? Can we do this to an IPA? Like what happens if you do it to an IPA? Can you do to a triple IPA?

Speaker 3:

Like what are we? We almost did it to the sour beer, the sour patch beer. It was on the table. No, we're not doing to the sour beer today, not today, melted Melted. Hey look, we got him.

Speaker 1:

That is something Right, okay, side track.

Speaker 2:

Plus I get to play with fire. Who, who?

Speaker 1:

who decided that that's what we do Stick a hop. No, no, no.

Speaker 3:

Not you two, no, no, no. Chad's found it Stronger, fair State.

Speaker 2:

Huh, fair State does hot beer poking days with their style.

Speaker 1:

With their Iron Horse, iron Horse.

Speaker 2:

And lots of places do that now.

Speaker 1:

They advertised it. Yeah, but like no, no, no, I get people do it. Yes, who was the one that was like I really like this beer. This is a great flavor. This is really good. I think it would be great If I burned it. Why don't I stick a hot smoking piece of metal inside?

Speaker 2:

No idea. I think people were sitting around a campfire and went hey, this, this poke this poker is really hot.

Speaker 3:

What happens if I stick it in?

Speaker 2:

the beer that checks. And was that food safe? Probably not.

Speaker 3:

Was this food safe? Questionable? It's stainless.

Speaker 2:

It's food grade stainless steel. Yeah, Did you what did?

Speaker 3:

you use in the video. That was an Allen wrench. Allen wrench. We almost used a galvanized nail. That seems not.

Speaker 2:

That would have been real bad. I knew ahead of time that was probably not the best way to go, but we my guess was this is a happy accident.

Speaker 3:

We messed with a buddy of mine in college when he asked for a cup of coffee instead of having beers with us, because he was a 24 year old man at the time. We were making fun of him, stoney.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, he was a 24 year old man, as you were. What 20, 21.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so we made him coffee and poured a beer over the top of it.

Speaker 2:

So, over the ground, over the ground In the coffee as it's brewing.

Speaker 3:

Okay. So it's brewing and so there's a beer mixed with the water. So you have like a beer in the coffee pot, not that much alcohol whatever, and he tasted and he's like this is one of the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. We were going to laugh at you and tricked you into drinking a beer and said you're like this is really good. What did you put in this? Where'd you get the beans? Sure, the exact same thing. Somebody got up away from the campfire, left their beer. Somebody takes the poker.

Speaker 1:

Yes, watch this, and the guy comes behind me and says this is delicious.

Speaker 3:

Who swapped my beer?

Speaker 2:

That is exactly how it happened, because it's like, because it's the same thing as tapping the top of the bottle Makes the beer foamy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, your beer is all foamy, but you saw that foam that was made, one is being a jerk One is oh, somebody was being a jerk when they did it the first time.

Speaker 2:

Well, yes Is my bet, and that never went. Oh shit, that's a good idea.

Speaker 3:

You do me, do me.

Speaker 1:

It makes me think of the first time we had fireball. We were camping out at Potholes and their way to like drink fireball was that you would just pick somebody and start chanting that person's name until they drank the fireball. And I think they got. You knew them more, so they got you first and then you like, take the pull and you're like I didn't even cough, man. That was actually pretty nice Okay do me Okay, fine, Like I can't even focus on the original beer now.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's all gone.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I have a little, so this has got a little bit more bite. We did the Biggie Jumbo a few episodes ago.

Speaker 3:

It's only a half a percent more.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, but yeah, alcohol is more prevalent in this and it's part of it to me is it's the sugary, it's the sweetness, it's the like, all that stuff builds on it.

Speaker 2:

And now this is a this is one of the beers I would. I've seen people take pastry style, so the like. Put it over ice cream this kind of drizzled.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I would do this over ice cream yeah.

Speaker 2:

I would poke it with a hot piece of stainless steel or drink it, can you? Do that and then put it on ice cream. I don't see why you couldn't. Oh, it's going to melt, right.

Speaker 1:

Layers.

Speaker 2:

No, no, it's just the foam, the foam. And stuff.

Speaker 1:

Something is warm, though.

Speaker 2:

The foam is warm because of the. Yeah, but you want a little bit of that foam on there. I think you just turn the beer into foam and then scoop the foam onto your ice cream. Who the more? Also not the worst or you just spoon the warm foam in your mouth.

Speaker 3:

Fresh ice cream, that's like a little bit too.

Speaker 2:

Solid. Yes, yeah, melt it up a little bit, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Just creating bad ideas.

Speaker 3:

Well, and this is missing the chocolate, which is where it gets a little boosier because it doesn't have the bitterness from a chocolate. Yeah, it's definitely more peanut butter, like straight up, because it is, it's straight up peanut butter plus, not peanut butter chocolate.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not mad about it though.

Speaker 3:

No, I'm mad about the 10 and a half percent and the fact that you hit me with three of them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, as it was, I'm starting to feel it. I think if this was an A to be perfect for me, I don't want to taste the booze on this with that Seven. That peanut butter is so good and that little booze by at the end takes me out of it a little bit. And it's a little that I'm old If I'm a young if I'm younger and I can process sugar like I used to, I'd be all in this. But this is a great. This is a great five, five or eight ounce.

Speaker 1:

God, that makes me think of the time that we accidentally made your brother drink a lactose beer.

Speaker 3:

Oh, he knew what he was getting into.

Speaker 2:

I don't think he knew it was full.

Speaker 1:

No, it's like a milk stout he did not know, until we said it, and then he was like oh, he's still drinking. Wow, I don't know how much he drank after that, but yeah, we're at refrigeration, are we sure? I mean, it's God, that's an, it's an experience. Yeah, like, yeah, I do almost. Like you know what? Instead of like, I want like, a, not milkshake like Drecker.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

But I want, like that, beer in a milkshake.

Speaker 2:

I was about to say Like a legit milkshake. Okay, I was about to say Like a syrup, a flavoring syrup.

Speaker 1:

I don't know how it works.

Speaker 3:

If you poured this into like a coffee mug, with a little half and half or like some actual creamer, you put it down close, right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's very desserty, it is very like sweetness and I mean it's just dark beer and peanut butter or peanuts, yeah, but like it still is very desserty, and so I think for me that's going to fit into a small window. I know for sure it's like the damn maple syrup. Actually that's the one that. I think the French toast.

Speaker 2:

French toast, the French toast from is the one Hovered cave.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well done Thank you.

Speaker 1:

It's in that cat Like I like it.

Speaker 2:

It's a lot yeah.

Speaker 1:

This is especially sitting down by yourself with a 16 ounce can. Again, this fits that category of like. This is my one for like the entire NASCAR race, or like this is my one for four people.

Speaker 2:

This is four, four ounce pours.

Speaker 3:

If you could do it that way, I think this would be a great one, and we talked about it. Maybe that's why it's in my head Like this is like a campfire, yeah, Like the kids are roasting s'mores. Maybe you have something like that or splitting it, splitting it. Ideally, I would have nobody to split it with. It was me and the kids.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's the thing it's like. Depends on where you are.

Speaker 2:

You take the poker out of the fire.

Speaker 1:

Possibly Like two minutes, I might.

Speaker 2:

Redosing your beer.

Speaker 1:

Okay, give me that, give me that marshmallow thingy Right Right over here.

Speaker 3:

Dad, but it's a little more.

Speaker 2:

It's a little more. It's a little more. Throw up marshmallow in it after you poke it, okay.

Speaker 1:

And all sorts of stuff with this, so I'd like it.

Speaker 2:

We're coming up. All of this great cold weather content is where I'm going to spend.

Speaker 1:

I would gladly have it every once in a while, but it's. I need a little space between them. I need a little like Yup, I love the like just simple logo yeah, black and gold.

Speaker 3:

It's pretty solid, cool, all right, we'll finish yours up.

Speaker 2:

I'm working on mine still. Yeah, all right, we're going to go burn some more beer after this, all right?

Speaker 3:

All right, our glasses are empty. Hopefully yours are too. We'll catch you next time.

Speaker 1:

Music аша. You, you, you, you you.
